Sex Education for Parents with Lottie Ellington

Are you worried you won’t know how to have “the talk” with your kids? Nervous to over or under-answer important questions? Are you a sex-positive adult who has no clue how that translates into parenthood? We hear all that! At Lotus Blooms, we’re taking a break from the typical “sex talks” that we normally give to to offer you a resource with this “Sex Education for Parents” workshop!

According to Advocates For Youth, one of the nation’s leading organizations for evidence based sexual health information, “When parents talk to and affirm the value of their children, young people are more likely to develop positive, healthy attitudes about themselves. This is also true when the subject is sex.”

Join friend of Lotus Blooms and long-time high school health educator, Lottie Ellington, as she helps you to identify roadblocks to communication. We’ll then explore attitudes related to sex and sexuality and discuss how this impact conversations with the kids.

We know that for many parents, initiating conversations about the facts of life may be difficult because so many people did not grow up in an environment where the subject was discussed. We also recognize that some parents may be afraid they do not know the right answers or feel confused about the proper amount of information to offer!

After this workshop, these fears will subside and will feel like a superhero parent with your ability to answer any and all questions age appropriately!

Lotus Blooms’ workshops are open to people of all genders and sexualities, individuals, couples, or groups. Due to state law, attendees must be over 18 to come to the workshops or shop in the store.

Workshops generally run about 90 minutes with a 5 minute break in the middle. Afterwards, the store is open for individual questions and private shopping for about half an hour.
